A 28-year hospitality industry veteran, Katherine G. Johnson is the former General Manager/Director of Human Resources of Nisbet Plantation Beach Club, an AAA 4-Diamond resort on the Caribbean island of Nevis. During her tenure there, Kathie shared general manager responsibilities with her husband Don Johnson while also handling Human Resources functions. Previously, she worked for Sonesta International Hotels Corporation as Director of Human Resources in Bermuda and Cambridge, MA. During this time, she created company wide customer service and employee incentive programs, revamped the HR Department in Bermuda, handled labor relations matters, conducted management and staff training and managed corporate HR audits of other Sonesta properties.
Through her affiliation with Training By Design, an innovative coaching and training company, Kathie has conducted specialized management and staff training programs in a variety of businesses. She is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, with a B.S. degree in Hotel, Restaurant & Travel Administration.

Nisbet Plantation Beach Club was awarded the AAA 4-Diamond status, placed on “Conde Nast Traveler” magazine’s ‘Gold List’ and named as one of the world’s best values by “Travel + Leisure” magazine.
Through consistent training, development and creative incentive programs, staff members received highly coveted awards at Nisbet Plantation; The CHA (Caribbean Hotel Association) employee of the year, that St. Kitts and Nevis employee of the year and personally received the Hotelier of the Year by the St. Kitts/Nevis Hotel Association.
Increased rooms inspection scores by 40% at Sonesta Beach Resort Bermuda.
Reduced staff turnover by 60% through the implementation of creative recruitment/retention programs at the Royal Sonesta Hotel Cambridge.
Reduced workman’s compensation annual premium by $150,000 over a 5-year period through aggressive safety programs at Royal Sonesta Hotel Cambridge.
Successfully opened new Sonesta properties in Key Biscayne, Anguilla, Curaçao and other locations.
